Set for adventure: Bluewater-ready at base price

It can take years of effort to optimally equip a boat for efficient, reliable and safe bluewater sailing. Pegasus Yachts therefore takes a radically different approach to most, believing responsibility for that readiness (and all the problem-solving involved) should lie with the boat builder, not the owner. The Pegasus 50 & Pegasus 67 are therefore delivered with a level of preparedness that means ready to go to sea.

What’s included in the base price

Every detail has been considered and implemented by a team that both understands high-performance design and knows what’s needed to make life at sea work smoothly, safely and comfortably. As a result, owners can arrive in Slovenia with only a bag of clothes and step aboard a boat fully equipped for adventure.

Instead of the base price reflecting only a minimalist starting point, the Pegasus yachts come as standard with all essential safety equipment and communications systems are already configured, with SIM cards installed. Equally anchoring and mooring setups reflect real-world cruising needs. Eight large fenders, two of which are ball-shaped, are inflated ready for use, complete with lanyards. A full set of mooring lines is also supplied, including a 50-60m kedge warp that doubles as a stern line for tying off to a shoreline.

Reliability engineered in

Systems are chosen for reliability, ease of servicing and world-wide support networks. Where appropriate redundancy is built in, allowing the boat to continue cruising in the event of autopilot failure, for example, and there are multiple sources of power for battery charging. If component failure causes one power source to drop out, you can therefore continue to run all systems, including the extensive refrigeration.

Cruising systems are equally well thought out and include a 50-litre/hour watermaker, high-capacity lithium batteries, solar panels and a WhisperPower generator. There’s also air conditioning, a washing machine and an intelligently designed galley. Attention to detail extends to providing a full set of bedding, crockery and cutlery, as well as filling soap dispensers in the bathrooms.

At the other end of the spectrum, the powerful Volvo D2-75 engine has a folding Gori Overdrive propeller, while the retractable bow thruster ensures easy handling under power. There’s also a carbon fibre mast and performance sail wardrobe, including furling A3 spinnaker, high-end deck hardware and Carbonautica wheels.

Experience led execution

Even safety and maintenance kits are fully provisioned, including liferaft, jackstays, smoke detectors, fire extinguishers and a very comprehensive spares and tools pack.

Equipping any boat to this level is a complex operation, but with the Pegasus yachts it’s informed by considerable offshore sailing experience and engineering knowledge. The result is a vessel that’s reliable, safe, easy to handle and very comfortable. It’s also a philosophy that enables new owners to maximise the time they are able to spend sailing, right from day one.
