PIP HARE JOINS PEGASUS YACHTS AS SHORTHANDED BLUEWATER SAILING CONSULTANT

Pip Hare, one of the most respected women solo offshore sailors in the world, has joined Pegasus Yachts as a shorthanded bluewater sailing consultant.

Pip is a two-time Vendée Globe campaigner and single-handed circumnavigator. She finished the 2020–21 edition of the race, and competed again in 2024–25 before dismasting in the South Indian Ocean and sailing 800 miles to Melbourne on a jury rig; a feat that brought her widespread recognition well beyond the sailing community. Her offshore career also spans multiple transatlantic crossings, and extensive experience in shorthanded offshore racing at the highest level.

In her new role, Pip will review the bluewater and short-handed capabilities of the Pegasus 50: assessing systems, ergonomics, and offshore readiness through the demanding lens of a solo sailor. Her findings will feed directly into our design and engineering process as we develop the forthcoming Pegasus 67.

Marko Paš and Miha Breskvar, Pegasus Yachts co-founders, said: "Pip represents exactly the kind of offshore expertise we want at the table when we are making decisions about how our yachts perform and how they keep their crews safe at sea. Her experience of sailing alone in the most extreme conditions in the world gives her an insight into yacht design that is simply impossible to replicate in any other way. We are proud to have her working with us."

Pip Hare said: "Racing alone across oceans has given me a deep insight into how the design and quality of a boat affects not only overall sailing performance, but also how secure we feel and how much we are able to enjoy the voyages we make. Details matter. It is clear to see that Pegasus Yachts are built with the same philosophy in mind — to ensure the boats are equipped to provide comfort, performance and security wherever they may end up in the world. I am excited to be able to work with the Pegasus team and to bring my own knowledge and experience as a sailor to the table, and to help find ways to keep improving the boats and the sailing experience. It's going to be an adventure."

The collaboration reflects our commitment to building yachts that perform at the highest level, with a particular focus on the needs of shorthanded crews. The Pegasus 50 is designed for offshore passagemaking and is capable of being sailed effectively by a small crew or a single-handed sailor. It is the foundation on which the Pegasus 67 will be built, and Pip's input will ensure that the offshore credentials of that programme are grounded in genuine, hard-earned experience at sea.

As Miha Breskvar, Co-founder, of Pegasus Yachts explains:

“We are certain that the concept of owner-sailed shorthanded cruising still works on a yacht the size of the Pegasus 67, and we partnered with Pip to ensure that we stay true to this creed. Pegasus was always about easy, and quick passage-making”.
