SAFETY IS PEGASUS KEY FEATURE

A deep and well-protected cockpit, minimized floor HEIGHT between the cockpit, salon and cabins, and an optimized interior layout make Pegasus safe to sail and live on.

Simple, straightforward sailing solutions provide easy and safe shorthanded boat handling. Sailing functions are moved away from the cockpit seating area.

The main sheet arch above the cockpit keeps the highly loaded and dangerous main sheet away from the cockpit.

Sailing Pegasus is safe in all weather conditions, even single-handedly and in every ocean.

DECK & COCKPIT SAFETY

A deep cockpit is designed to give comfortable sitting and protection against all elements.

The tempered glass front windshield offers clear forward visibility, even at night, without reflection.

NO high-loaded and movable main sheet in the cockpit. It is moved on top of the main sheet arch.

Sailing controls moved away from cockpit seating, led back to the steering position and optimized for shorthanded operations.

Massive deck toe rail, extra strong railing and stanchions, and plenty of handholds.

Wide deck passages, clean deck and solid steps to side decks and swim platform for safe movement around the boat.

INTERIOR SAFETY

The safe and close connection between the cockpit and the saloon is separated with only two ergonomically shaped steps.

Reduced interior layout distances prevent falling or slipping while sailing.

An interior layout with a central corridor between cabins and toilets allows safe movement.

A toilet and shower are designed and positioned for use while sailing at high heel angles.

The galley is well thought out, with various body supports for comfortable and safe food preparation.

HULL SAFETY

Balanced, symmetrical, but modern hull shape, with moderate keel draft and good upwind sailing ability.

Advanced keel design with exceptional longitudinal stability, minimum leeway, and sufficient lateral area for low-speed manoeuvrability.

Robust top keel plate construction, bolted into moulded hull recess, to evenly spread keel loads on hull structure. The hull structure is engineered and built for grounding at low speed.

Twin rudders for total control on big seas and redundancy in case of damaging one rudder. Each rudder can be independently operated.

SYSTEMS SAFETY

Accessible, non-corrosive seacocks (through-hull fittings) optimized in number and position (clustering), with clear markings for easier regular inspection and control.

Boat systems are moved out of bilges to preserve equipment from moisture and dirt and for easier access and inspection.

The life raft in the cockpit table is ready for use with one pull-out.

TWO (2) Main Bilge pumps, oversized, as per professional vessels standard.

The boat is separated into three structural watertight compartments.

Last-generation ANCHOR is integrated into the hull recess. It is self-launching from the steering position or bow control.

SAFETY HIGHLIGHTS:

CONSTRUCTION

Pegasus value is built around meticulous structural engineering and careful composite construction using state-of-the-art production techniques and materials, including carbon fibres. The result is a strong and sound hull structure, perfectly able to sustain loads from any conditions on the sea. A strong and sound but lightweight structure is a key for easy handling and a fast-moving hull through water in any sea state.

KEEL DESIGN

Tandem keel and rudders are designed in collaboration with the most progressive minds in yacht design and engineering, working exclusively for America’s cup teams and top ocean racing yachts. The objective was to reduce leeway, increase directional stability and increase lateral surface by not compromising speed. Increased keel lateral stability is essential for low-speed control of the boat in small ports with strong winds abeam.

BOW CRASH BOX

Hull bow volume under the anchor locker floor is structurally fully insulated in case the bow, floating in the water, hits a big and heavy floating object. Even if the hull gets damaged and penetrated, water remains in this small volume and does not enter the rest of the boat.
