Development of the new Pegasus 67, as Covered by Seahorse Magazine

February, 2026

Pegasus Yachts has been featured in Seahorse magazine, with a look at the thinking and engineering behind the new Pegasus 67.

The article first covers the unique aspects of our existing Pegasus 50 model, and how they relate to the development of the new Pegasus 67. Our guiding philosophy of »less is more« is covered, as well as the relationship we maintain with Guillaume Verdier and Juan Kouyoumdjian, who help us bring our ideas of fast, comfortable and easy to sail bluewater cruisers to fruition. Seahorse writes:

“For the Slovenian boutique boatbuilder Pegasus Yachts, comfort is a founding philosophy. Comfort in this context is emotional as well as physical: ease, simplicity, an absence of stress”.

Unique features of our yachts are touched upon, including the concept of catamaran living on a monohull. This is achieved by many aspects of the yacht’s design, including the gimbaled settee, protected cockpit and a seamless connection between the yachts’ interior and the cockpit:

“That connection is helped by the glazed aft bulkhead of a quasi-deck saloon, including a wide companionway hatch of sliding glass, creating a single insideoutside space. […] Another hallmark is the cockpit canopy, a fixed targa top mainsheet arch with a central canvas section that can be rolled away”.

Crucially, more details on the 67’s performance and naval architecture are revealed and discussed at length:

“For the Pegasus 67, various keel configurations including a further development of the tandem keel concept from the Pegasus 50 are now being tested and shape-optimised with Juan Yacht Design’s in-house CFD cluster. […] Her hull form is designed to surf the waves easily, her downwind numbers are impressive and she will be easy to handle shorthanded, with a furling code sail. At the same time she will point high when sailing upwind, with a soft, easy motion. Consistently good performance on all points of sail is the name of the game”.

Finally, the article presents the development of the 67 form the perspective of Juan Yacht Design and elaborates on the design spiral that defines their approach; from the detailed original brief through close cooperation between designers and yard, to hull geometry refinement using CFD and carefully developed keel design.
